Narayan bali is done where a death was sudden, violent or unattended, or where the last rites were never completed — the shastra treats that soul as unsettled, and this is the remedy. It is a long rite and a heavy one, and families usually come for it having been told to by a pandit at home. We will set aside the day, arrange purohits who perform it regularly, and tell you beforehand what it involves so nobody is taken by surprise at the ghat.
