नामकरण संस्कार

Namkaran Sanskar

The naming of a child, performed in front of the deity with the havan and the family's sankalp.

By arrangement in Gokul, Mathura or Vrindavan · About 1½ hours

A short, warm ceremony. The purohits take the sankalp, the havan is performed, and the name chosen for the child is spoken formally for the first time. Families often bring it to Braj so that the name is first said in front of Thakur Ji. It pairs naturally with the annaprashan if both are due.
