Annaprashan Sanskar
A child's first taste of grain, offered to the deity before it is given to the baby.
By arrangement in Gokul, Mathura or Vrindavan · About 1½ hours
The first solid food a child eats is offered to Thakur Ji first and then fed to the baby, usually kheer, usually by the maternal uncle or the grandmother. It is a small ceremony and a happy one, and it is often done on the same morning as the namkaran when a family has travelled for it.
