श्री कृष्ण बलराम मंदिर

ISKCON Vrindavan (Krishna Balaram Mandir)

The Krishna Balaram Mandir on the Vrindavan parikrama marg, with the cleanest darshan and the best English-speaking help in town.

Founded by Srila Prabhupada and opened in 1975, the Krishna Balaram Mandir stands on the Vrindavan parikrama marg at Raman Reti. The deities are Krishna and Balaram, Radha Shyamsundar and Gaura Nitai, and the mangala aarti at half past four in the morning is one of the genuinely moving things in Braj.

For first-time visitors and for anyone coming from abroad this is the easiest temple in Vrindavan: it is clean, it is organised, people speak English, and the samadhi of Prabhupada and the Govinda's restaurant are on the same site.

What we would tell you beforehand

  • The mangala aarti is worth setting an alarm for, and the temple is nearly empty at that hour.
  • This is the easiest temple here for elderly visitors — level floors, space to sit, and someone to ask.
  • Govinda's does clean vegetarian food, which matters if anyone in the group has a delicate stomach.
